"PROUDLY CANADIAN"

Thistle Brae Collies

“Marley” is a great big collie with a heart of gold. He loves a good romp, but can be sweet and gentle with small children. “Marley” did very well in the show ring, and he is one of three littermates who easily earned their championships as puppies. His sire is the illustrious top winning collie Can/Am Ch. Overland Southern Comfort.  He now lives with his Grandsire and is owned by Debbie

“Callum” is a sable son of  Am/Can.Ch Highcroft Handsome Hero,  the WD at the 2002 Collie Club of Canada National Specialty.  “Callum” has the most wonderful collie temperament, and he gets along with everybody.  Callum has retired to a wonderful home where he is a practicing Therapy Dog.

Beautiful “Kaylee” was one of my foundation collies.  She is a blue merle granddaughter of Am/Can Ch Vennessee’s Midnight Express ROM.  “Kaylee” was multi-talented, and has done obedience, herding, and agility.  She has proven her ability to produce, as her ROMX designation reflects. Before retiring, “Kaylee” left us with some gorgeous puppies to carry on her legacy, and her offspring have gone on to demonstrate their own prowess in the show ring and in the whelping box.
“Kaylee” retired and moved on to live a wonderful life with my friends Lesly and Tom in UT.  But in retirement,  Kaylee did not just lounge on the couch, she took up a new career. As a Therapy Dog she brought much comfort and joy to the elderly and the ill.

“Blackie” was born a show puppy!  At 12 weeks of age he would strike a show pose and just hold it, as if to say LOOK AT ME.  He is one of three littermates to complete their Canadian titles as puppies.
“Blackie” has sired several litters, and his daughters will carry his line on at Thistle Brae.  This handsome dog with the true collie temperament will always hold a special place in my heart.  2006-2016

“ Erin’s” sweet face catches the eye and the admiration of all visitors to the kennel.  Her spunky nature insures she is always the centre of attention.  She won Best of Breed (pictured below) at the Canadian Collie and Shetland Sheepdog Specialty..

Her name may say otherwise, but “Carly’s” show career could be described as hot…hot…hot…!  This stunning smooth bitch had it all.  But even better than her outstanding show career is the fact that several of “Carly’s”  off-spring from her first litter were accepted into the American Guide Dog program.  In fact, the folks at the Assoc. were so impressed with her puppies, they have requested to lease her for a second litter. How wonderful, that such a lovely dog can also do so much for a good cause.

And now, sadly the final chapter, as “Kaylee” has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  It is with great sadness we must say goodbye to this wonderful collie.  Pictured here is a plaque that was presented to her owners Lesly & Tom, as a tribute to the wonderful work she did as a Therapy Dog.

"Miley" is now retired and lives in the same home as one of her smooth daughters. She has a perfect home on a farm and is loved by Maxine and Nancy in Shelburne

Honey is as sweet as her name indicates. She quickly achieved her Championship as a puppy, and later presented me with beautiful rough and smooth puppies. In her forever home (with a pastor), she accompanies him on home visits to his congregation.

Java was a special girl because she was my first homebred Canadian American Champion.  She started her unofficial show career early at the tender age of 13 weeks where she won 6th best overall dog (and best smooth collie) at the Scottish Dog Show in Uxbridge.   Java left me with a gorgeous daughter and retired to her forever home

“Dove” is a sweet as her name suggests, with just a dash of naughty added for sparkle.  “Dove” is our third generation blue rough female in her line, and they just keep getting prettier.   Her grandmother “Kaylee” would be proud of her. Dove" is now retired to a fantastic home in the country where she enjoys walks with her devoted owners Nancy and Kurt.

"SUNNY"

"Sunny" truly is the sunshine of my eye.

He completed his Canadian Championship as a Junior puppy with some nice Specialty and All Breed wins. He has both his American and American Grand Championship titles.
In 2010, he was #2 Smooth Collie in Canada, with multiple Group placements. He has sired several litters, and his pups are delightful

Beautiful "Thrill" came to Canada, thanks to owner Deidra Bower, and quickly earned her Canadian championship.

"Clara" was named after Olympic champion Clara Hughes, and astonishingly this puppy earned a 5-point major her first time out, at the age of 6 months! She walked out of the Specialty ring sporting two gold medals, just like her namesake!!! This sweet natured pup completed her Canadian championship at 7 months.

This handsome dog was once a star in the show ring, and then lived the life of luxury as a full time companion to Mr. Denis Taylor in Terrace Bay on beautiful Lake Superior.

Right from the get go, Van was a special puppy.  The first time he stepped into a show ring, he captured a group placement.  The writing was on the wall as he continued to catch the judge's eye with several more group placements as a puppy. He was still a puppy for the 2008 Collie Club of Canada National Specialty, where he picked up "Winners Dog" to finish his Championship and then went all the way to "Best of Variety" and "Best of Breed" under breeder judge Mike Esch. This sweet natured young dog brought home many trophies that day and captured a permanent place in my heart.  He is now retired in a loving home.
